Thousands of protesters in Iraq are attempting to breach the US Embassy in Baghdad, as reported on social media, in response to Israel's assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut yesterday.
Footage reveals confrontations between demonstrators and security personnel equipped with riot gear. The large assembly is marked by the presence of Hezbollah flags and images of Nasrallah, alongside flags representing Iran-aligned militias in Iraq, known as the Popular Mobilization Forces.
Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani previously denounced the attack on Nasrallah, labeling it “a crime that demonstrates the Zionist entity has violated all boundaries.”
In his statement, he referred to the Israeli assaults on southern Beirut as a “disgraceful act” and characterized Nasrallah as “a martyr in the pursuit of justice.”
