PC gamers can look forward to an exciting announcement from Square Enix, as Final Fantasy 16 is set to launch on PC on September 17, 2024. This news was revealed just before the gamescom Opening Night Live event, with the publisher confirming that the PC version will be available for $49.99. Alongside the main game, the two DLC expansions, Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide, will also be released on PC, although they will require an additional purchase. While it remains uncertain if these expansions can be bought separately, Square Enix is offering a "Complete Edition" for $69.99, which includes the base game, both expansions, and several additional in-game items. Furthermore, a demo is currently accessible on Steam and the Epic Games Store, with any progress made in the demo transferring to the full game. Originally launched in 2023 as a PS5 exclusive, Final Fantasy 16's PC port was confirmed by Square Enix last September, surprising many fans, especially since producer Naoki Yoshida had previously suggested that players should acquire a PS5 to experience the game. In a March interview with Game Informer, Yoshida indicated that the PC version was nearing completion and mentioned that the system requirements would likely be "somewhat high." In IGN's review of Final Fantasy 16, it was noted: "With its fast-paced, action-oriented combat, Final Fantasy 16 diverges from traditional expectations of the series, yet its compelling narrative, rich character development, and immersive world-building rank among the finest in the franchise, while the innovative Active Time Lore feature sets a new benchmark for engaging players in story-driven experiences."
